Presidential Elections

Well, today I have to talk about presidential elections, although this topic does not like me very much, I will try to give my opinion about this.

First, I think the politic is not very useful because always are the same topics, problems, projects for working and proposals but the worst is the end, when the people had chosen any candidate and he does not keep his promises. This is a lamentable situation but it happens all time: In previous time for elections, they promise you the world but when they are chosen you can see only a little part of this world. Because of this, I think that the most healthy for people is that the candidates offers real situations, things that they can do in the future, if they are chosen for the community.

In this moment I am not registered in the Electoral Registry, but I do not if I do it in the future, maybe yes or maybe not (Sincerely I am not motivated for doing it now). So how you can see I am not going to vote in these presidential elections but if I could vote in this occasion I believe that I vote to candidate Jorge Arrate who represents the left in my country.
I am not very informed about the programs of different candidates but I had sawn some debates between their so I have some ideas about their positions. I do not like candidates who represent the right (for different reasons as their approach about economy, energy, social things and others) so I don’t vote for Piñera, for example. The others candidates have better programs in social, educational and security context I think, but I think they say things that people want to hear. But Arrate says concrete and specific things, things really credible and possible for doing.

For last, I don’t like to participate in politics in the future for the same reasons that I said in the beginning.

Sex education

Well, the topic for today’s activity is free, so I went to website http://www.guardian.co.uk/ and I chose a very interesting new for me, it is called “Sex education interrupts”. I have chosen this article because it speaks about the sex lessons in the primary and secondary school and how this kind of education has been taught until now in United Kingdom. Besides I chose this article because de sexuality is a matter very important and interesting for me, for studying it and because the sexuality has to be showed and taught without myths, taboos, and in a very good form in all its expressions. Apart from this, the combination between psychology and sexuality is so exciting and interesting and the education context is the better way for examples it, I think. Now I will talk to you about this exciting article.

In UK the sex education is taught to children in the schools but is not obligatory for them and the parents have the right to opt out from this kind of lessons. But now, a government’s reviews to consider teaching sex education at primary and secondary schools but in a compulsory way. Before parents might to withdraw their children until the end secondary school (even sixth formers. Wow it’s unacceptable, I think).

This new government’s review contemplates the sex education in a wide context and they hope for 2011 a complete process. It means sex education as part of personal, social, health and economic curriculum and obligatory for children aged 15 and up. So the parent could opt out their children but until 15.

I consider this review perfectly for the moment because is a good way for a responsible education and with quality but the most important teenagers could take sensible decisions.

Correcting to my classmate?

Well today I am going to talk about Carolina’s blog. We are classmates at University in the same career: Psychology. She is very nice and a great person and very smart too.

But for this occasion I have to take only one activity from Carolina’s blog and reading and then correct it, but I am not a English teacher, so I expect to do very god my job. In this activity (I am going to show it more forward) Carolina says many things about she expects of this course in this semester (I believe that you know we stay in the last level, number 4).

I think very similar to Carolina about topic that we could work in our blog, especially about pour believes and philosophy’s system and why not about our religion too. For example, Carolina likes oriental religion and philosophical system, such as Buddhism. I believe is very interesting knowing more about my classmates in other contexts and situations. Have my classmates any hobbies? Which ones? Do they practice any religion or deport or another activity out in the university? I think these questions are very interesting to know better my classmates. Besides is a funny way for meeting.

My Faculty

Well, today I will speak to you about my Socials Sciences Faculty FACSO.
The current situation in my Faculty is very singular and complicated because the education that they give to me is the best in my country, this Faculty has the best psychological career I think but my Faculty belongs to “Universidad de Chile” so is a state and public university and then it means that we do not have all resources that we want and the principal problem is the infrastructure. And how we stay at university I think the best equipment place must be the library, but is not in my Faculty. Lamentably we have a library a little poor I think, it has book but not all the necessaries and the computer and informatics system is so awful, occasionally it do not working. Other element is the capacity because is not too much space and sometimes we have to go to others libraries in other faculties and this is not comfortable and I think this situation is a shame for us because is one the best universities from my country.
But I how can I improve this problem? Well, the principal and general problem is the infrastructure (because the library and other places are only examples) and for improving this trouble we need money, but I belong to state university so the money come from State. Then I believe the best form to resolve this is making a new educational politic, a politic that spent more in the infrastructure at state university because of this the students can improve their performance in a holistic form. Why? Because if the human been has places more comfortable to him, and to his development he can work happy and very good.

The country I'd like to visit is...

Well, today I talk to you about some country I’d like to visit.

Sincerely is not easy to choose because I would like to visit a lot different countries such as Spain, Mexico, Scotland, Greece and others. So if somebody came to me and offer me a holidays for this summer I think that I’ll say “Greece”. Because I love mythology, art, philosophy and other typical elemental from the Greek Culture. Besides the weather are so cool and its older infrastructure too. Greece is a country with an exciting history, legends, and with an accent very singular. So for my holidays I will choose Greece because this country has an interesting culture for knowing, a good history, and a very good weather and places very pretty.

However, if somebody came to me and offer me study for a time in other country I think I will choose Spain because always I want to visit it and study hear because this country has many good investigations about relationship between Psychology and Sexuality and this one is an area from my career very exciting to me. Besides I have some friend in Spain and one cousin and I always admire the culture diversity in this country.

Stress of Level

Today I talk to you about a research study of Psychological Wellbeing Survey Report that includes a lot of indicators that enable to the psychologist understand people’s evaluations of their lives. This study to pretend to take consciousness and show us that not exist necessarily a directed relationship between development and wellbeing, that although economic growth the people has other necessities such as emotional, socials, and spirituals, and because of this the psychologist called to the government to include this essential necessities in the social program to made a lot better quality of live.

This research study includes different indicators such as happiness level, sources of happiness, selfishness, guilty and others. They are includes in four categories called life satisfaction, emotional well-being, spirituality and stress. But now I talk to you specifically about the stress indicator reflected in the stress level in the people and in the sources of stress for the people in their lives.

The principal sources of stress are the financial security, the death and illness and the social relationships (economical factor, security/integrity factor and the social/emotional factor I think). When the human being accumulate 3 strong stressor in one year this cause chronic stress because the level of serotonin dawn drastically in the brain and this more social and emotional factors principally begins a stress episode so dangerous for the people. If we see the stress level graph we can check these ideas because the people feel and perceive stress constantly: a 47% are somewhat stressful and a no minor 12% are very stressful. So a 59% of the people had stress in some grade.

A interesting new

I’m going to talk you about a new that I read today called “Sick psychology of female sex criminals. It is a very interesting new because it explains or to try to explain because the women can commit sex crimes or other sort of savage acts for helping to her lovers. I choose this one because is not common to hear sex crime-woman relationship.

The article shows us different theories or ideas about causes of this psychopathological behavior such as, cultural influence, genetic influence, social influence and the emotional influence. The general idea says that the human being commit crime acts because the guilty and the remorse gets in the way of killing, and when I read this I thought about the Freudian concept called “individual with guilty conscience” in his article “Some characters in the psychoanalysis study”. In the new, the author says that genetic variable is very important in the human behavior, so in these cases of “criminals” the psychologist must pay attention to this factor. The cultural and social influences are easiest to explain because of the “socialization process”.

But the emotional variables are not easy to explain in the woman. In this case, the author says: “…The issue of why women abuse children and other women is such an emotional one that what people often fail to recognize is that there are more differences within the sexes than there are between them. Women can be just as aggressive and cruel as men, given the specific set of circumstances that brings forth that behavior…”

The catalyst to bring these behaviors to the surface, says the author, is the presence of a man who lacks the imagination to empathize with his victims or restrain his desire for power and sexual or violent gratification. So the woman sees herself in a dilemma: to help to procure the victim (humanity decision) or to risk losing her lover (if she doesn’t help him). Because of this, the woman commit crime acts because she think that she must help to her lover for avoiding that her lover ends up more interesting in the victim and not in her. Other theory says criminal men who not recognize to authorities choose to women with low self-esteem or low intelligence so these women so these women are dragged towards the crime. However, the author says today not exist a “universal theory” for explaining to the female criminal behavior.

My ideal job.

Since I read for the first time on Jung and his school of psychology, I always have thought of managing to be a psychoanalyst according to the viewpoint of the Analytical Psychology. I like so much this viewpoint than that of the Freudian Psychoanalysis, because I believe this kind of psychoanalysis is very limited to sexual impulses, principally.

Among the principal qualities and skills it is the knowledge, certainly. But is possible, I think, to specify it of the following way:

Qualities: The psychologist of this school must be a patient person when he listen the problems of his patients and he must be a sufficiently empathic person to connect of better form with them. Besides he must be capable of integrating all his knowledge of form to help in an integral form.
Skills: An analytical therapist needs to study and to dominate diverse areas of the knowledge, not alone psychology. The Analytical Psychology includes mythology, alchemy, dreams, folklore and others. Then, the analyst must dominate diverse skills and he must know how and when to occupy it.

I believe this field of the psychology is very interesting, and then I want to study it and to be an excellent professional, because I believe that it is a very good way of helping the persons, focusing in them as integral beings. The difficulty of finding a work of this type takes root in that the some people thinks psychoanalysis is not serious field because it sometimes lacking empirical solid bases.

My blogging experience...

Well. In the beginning I thought that blogging experience was very difficult for me, because it was the first time, but in the course I could to improve in my English. However I do not enjoy it so much because I have English on Thursday all day and sometimes I need study or I need do some jobs. Besides, the blogging class is the second part class, and then sometimes I am not in good spirits to continue in class, although the class blogging is easier and faster. But a thing that I enjoy is when I finish my exercise in the blog and then I can spent my rest time class for watching my facebook, or for doing a jobs, or for reading or for speaking with my friends on MSN Messenger.

The blogging experience helped me to improve my English so much; because of this I can speak English in a more fluent form. Besides I could learnt new words and new techniques concepts connected to my career (Psychology).

Then, the blogging in the English class has advantages but it has disadvantages too. In the advantages we can find that blogging experience improves the English in the students. In my development, for example, I can get better in my English abilities. Other advantage is the web format because I did not have blog, so I must do it a new for my English class and I learnt the “world of the Blogs” and their dynamics. In the disadvantage we can find the time, because my English blog class is immediately after than my theoretical English class, then I spent much time that day in the university and I waste time for studying for my exams. Other disadvantage is when the computer system has a low connection to internet, and then is more difficult to post the exercise on Blog Web.

The value of the creativity

In the video, Ken Robinson speaks to us on the value of the creativity in the children, considering it to be a very important tool in the education of the children. But he says that the schools and the educational system in everywhere do not develop this type of tool because it considers them to be low and they worry about promoting the “formal intelligence". Then, he says that that the educational system of now worries much more of the traditional tools for mathematics and language, for example. And this form of education does not allow developing other tools, such as creativity, and this don’t allow developing “artistic tools” in the children.

Ken argues that the being human has a complex brain and it is dividing in two parts: Artistic and Rational, but the schools only develops in the children the last one part and this is wrong, says Ken. Because the creativity is a very important for an integral development of the intelligence and the education.

My Favourite Subject

In my first year at the university my favourite subject is psychology. I have this subject twice a week and the teacher than teach me is called Juan Enrique Wilson. I like so much this subject because is the subject more important in my first term and it is directly connected with my career. Besides this subject contain many different and interesting contents about basic psychological topics.

Then, psychologist subject is very important, because it provide me the basic and elemental tools, knowledge and abilities for being a good psychologist.

In psychology I have learnt many different issues. First and for introducing in the area, you can learn about the different psychology areas (Clinical, Educational, Social…). Later there are other topics such as study of memory, motivation, cognitive development, etc.

A very important thing that the teacher taught us in the class is that Psychology is a transversal discipline, then we have study other areas too and this way we can see the problems in a integral form. For remembering this, the teacher says us: “Look the forest not the tree”.

My Future

Well, first I hope to be alive in 5 years. What would I like to be doing? Many many things:

I would like to have ended my Psychology career and I hope to be beginning my doctorate in Psychoanalysis according to Jung Theory. So, I will want to be working as psychologist and to be studying my postgrade in Analytical Psychology at the same time. If you see, I like the clinical area of Psychology and then I will go for this path.

Besides, I would want to live in my own department and with my girlfriend, maybe. But I do not wish kids, because my plan of live does not include being a dad. I would like to travel too. I do not see my future hear I see my future in other country. But before I’ll want to travel to Europe and then I will choose a country and to live there.

My ideal future includes studying alternatives therapies too, because I think it is very interesting.

Carl Gustav Jung

In my opinion the best in my field is a psychiatrist and psychologist called Carl Gustav Jung. I think that Jung is the better in his area because he investigated new things about the personality and how it is connected with psique structure and the cultural manifestations.

In the beginning Carl Jung was disciple of Sigmund Freud, but after some differences, Jung went on his own path and he founded the Analytic Psychology (called Jungian Psychology, Psychology of Complexes or Psychology Deeper too). This is a new psychoanalyst form, but I think it is very different from Freud’s psychoanalyst because in his school he integrated very different disciplines such as: Anthropology, Dreams, Art, Alchemy, Mythology, Religion and Philosophy. Because all this reasons that I like so much Psychology of Carl Jung.

Besides he was the first person that investigated and documented the relation between Archetypes and Unconscious and he formulated a famous theory called Collective Unconscious.

My career: Psychology

I’m studying Psychology because is an interesting career and because when I was in my last grade at school, I had many health problems for stressing. I have epilepsy then the attacks increased that year for the same cause. So, my doctor can’t control my epilepsy very well and that moment I though in the famous phrase “healthy mind, healthy body”. Because if you have a healthy mind, and you are very good emotionally, the probabilities of sound falling ill you go down.

The psychologists contributes to society by helping welfare to people in their environment in different ways, for example: Healing psychopathologies, improving behavior, making it more pleasing their integration into society and at work, etc. The psychologist needs psychological tools, such as, patient, empathy, critical observation and critical reasoning, etc.

I’m in my first year, so I don’t have clear right now, but I think that I will prefer the clinical psychology and the Neurosciences, because I like so much the biology in the psychology.

This is my first year hear, so we must read a book called Psychology and Life. This book contains all basic knowledge of this beautiful discipline called Psychology. I found this link in the bibliography section of book, and then I visit it very often, but overcoat when I have quiz or when I have an exam.

I like so much this site web, because it has multiple tools and activities to review the contents of chapters. For example, essay questions, true or false questions, and multiple choice questions. Additionally, in this site web I found flashcards that explain the contents in a dynamic form, and this was so good for my studing. Other important tools that this website offers are the general objective and specific objective. These objectives are a guide for me because this form, I can know the concepts and the contents more important that I must learn.

So you know. If you are in first year, and don’t know anything about psychology, this website is a very good place for learning the basics knowledge.

I like this photograph because...

I love so much this photograph because is an important and special remember in my life. This photo shows my old best friends when we travelled to the beach, in the winter holiday of 2007 year. In that moment I was 17 years old. In that trip we went to Yeco Beach, near Algarrobo, because Cinthya, my friend, has a house in that place.

The Cinthya’s mother took this photograph, when a day we went to beach and saw the sea only, because the weather was very cold. Then, the photograph shows a group of good friends in a beach day.

That day, I remember we enjoy so much; we took us photos in the sea, in the sand, in the gigantic rocks and we took us photographs in the beautiful forest, too. Else, we played and did very funny things, such as, sing, and play guitar. I like this photo for a special reason, but not so happy reason, because this friends group doesn’t exist anymore. Some people went out of the group, and other discussed and they broke up friendship forever. This wasn't a happy end, yeah. But the life go on...

My piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is a laptop (usually called notebook, too), because this one allow me do very different things. For example, in my laptop, I can study for my university class and my quiz, I can do works and meet with my friends in MSN Messenger, etc. I got my first laptop when I am 15 years old, it was a gift of my father to me.... but, a day I took my laptop and I fallen and my piece of technology disappear in one hundred pieces. However, in Christmas, my parents gift me a new laptop and the life returned to my body xD.

I use my laptop every day ¿How? Well, I read very much about various topic, I listen to music, play sometimes, but the most important is look my friends of others countries for webcam. Then, the laptop is a very very important technological piece for me, so I use it every day on night, and the firts I do is to read my e-mail.

Welcome to my place.

I'm Miguel Ahumada, a pshycology student of University of Chile. I'm on my first year.

In the english program univertsity, I'm on the level 3 or pre-intermedite. It's a dinamic class. Right now, me and my partners are in the laboratory.

But.... I don't like english very much, I prefer exotic languages. However the english is a language very important today, everything, in all the world, the english is important... is a universal language in this moment.
